Josh Taylor, WBSS Season II Super-Lightweight champion, becomes the first Scot to feature on Ring Magazine’s prominent Top 10 pound-for-pound list since it was introduced in 1989.

“I’m absolutely delighted that I broke into the Top 10 pound-for-pound rankings,” Taylor, ranked No. 9, told the WBSS.

“It’s a great achievement for myself, I feel very proud. It is very satisfying to see that I finally get the kind of recognition that I deserve from the last few performances that I have put in. I’m only 17-0, unified champion, Ring Magazine champion, WBSS champion so I’m very happy to get the recognition of being included in the Top 10.

“And a bit of history as well, the first Scotsman to do so. That’s another achievement in itself.”

Aleksandr Usyk (No. 4) has three successive wins on his perfect record after taking home the Greatest Prize in Boxing at Cruiserweight in Season I of the WBSS, also undefeated Naoya Inoue (No. 2) and Josh Taylor followed up their tournament wins in Season II at Bantamweight and Super-Lightweight respectively with each a KO victory.

The World Boxing Super Series is in the process of planning Season III, the development can be followed on WBSS platforms and in ‘Kalle’s WBSS hangouts’ podcast hosted by Chief Boxing Officer Kalle Sauerland.
